One of the oldest geological regions as well as unspoiled places on earth is located to the south of the Orinoco River. It is a unique luscious land with magnificent landscapes, chosen in as the natural scenery for films like Spielberg's Arachnophobia, Disney's Jungle to Jungle and Dinosaurs.
It is in Venezuela where you may see the highest waterfalls in the world: El Salto Angel, and La Laguna Canaima (Canaima Lagoon) with the most spectacular cascades.
Ciudad Bolivar, located on the narrowest part of the Orinoco River, and for this reason formerly named Angostura (trans.: narrowness), illustrates much of Venezuela¹s history and culture in its streets, squares and museums.
Ciudad Guayana, created by the fusion of Puerto Ordaz and San Felix, turned into a booming modern city, thanks to the development of heavy industries like iron, aluminum and hydroelectricity. Its natural parks La Llovizna and Cachamay are worth filming.
In this region there are only two very different seasons, where life changes completely: winter/rainy and summer/dry season. In the first one, the woods, the rivers, the trees show all their beauty. A large part of the region is under water, making transportation more challenging, but nature is most spectacular. In the second, it becomes yellow and brown, and the dust covers the most part of the plains, but that is when all the wildlife converges in the few spots where water is present. It is the season where you can see more birds and animals. The difference between the two seasons is so vast, that you cannot truly know the ³llanos² without experiencing both periods.
Venezuela is a Caribbean country that enjoys a wide variety of climates And landscapes thanks to the presence of the Andean range. This region offers extraordinary views and picturesque spots with the Bolivar Peak, at 5002 meters, as Venezuela's highest peak. Los Roques is an archipelago of Venezuela, located in the Caribbean, at 168 Km (100 miles) north of La Guaira, Caracas´ harbour. The archipelago has more than 50 islands. The most important, El Gran Roque (trans.: The Great Rock) is the only one populated and is where the airport is located.
